Před nedávnem jsme zde měli nové číslo Sociologického časopisu, dnes bychom vám rád představili nové číslo mezinárodního časopisu Sociology vydavatelství SAGE, s nímž poprvé vychází i internetový speciál. Obě publikace jsou dostupné zdarma online, ačkoliv standardní říjnové vydání časopisu si bez příslušného oprávnění či zaplacení přístupu můžete přečíst jen do 1. prosince tohoto roku.
Tento termín však nepředstavuje žádný problém, jelikož lze nyní veškeré obsahy stahovat ve formě PDF. Zmíněné speciální vydání je prací dvojice autorů Lindy McKie z britské Durham University a Luise Ryana z britské Middlesex University. Jejich článek Exploring Trends and Challenges in Sociological Research se zabývá rolí, relevancí a metodologickými možnostmi sociologického výzkumu v 21. století. Má čtenářům přiblížit (či oživit) debatu vedenou v minulých letech ohledně nových směrů metod a témat, jako jsou například sociální média a nové technologie. Čtenář tak má získat povědomí o aktuálních trendech, ačkoliv se jedná jen o několikastránkovou publikaci.

Říjnové číslo časopisu Sociology, které přichází s podtitulem The Sociology of Human Rights, přináší články věnované sociálním hnutím, právu, jazyku, válce, humanitární pomoci, chudobě, soukromí, náboženství a sexuální orientaci a dalším tématům ve spojitosti s lidskými právy.
